2 Ways to Achieve Metalized Color Digital Printing Pouch
To make pouch look more attractive, sometimes we would use gold, silver or other metalized color on packaging. While as we all know , there is no metal ink for digital printing so far, so how to achieve metalized color on digital printing pouch which rotogravure can make? Colors system of HP Indigo Digital Printing Press
Digital Printer HP Indigo 20000 or 25000 we use, have HP IndiChrome 6-color printing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Orange, Violet, Violet for packaging, and Green) or HP IndiChrome 7-color printing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Orange, Violet, Violet for packaging, and Green). While neither of them has gold or silver metallized ink. So we could not print gold/silver ink by digital printing like rotogravure printing. So we have to find other ways to acheive them if customer demand.
PS: Since CMYK already could achieve 97% of Patone colors, and the performance is enough, we do not use spot colors, just use CMYK + white to print.
Aluminum Process
We normally use CMYK+White to make print by Digital Printing. Since the digital ink is a nano-scale electronic ink with very good light transmission, we could use aluminium process to achieve gold metallized color. While there is a condition for this, the material in the middle layer should be foil material, such as Al foil, VMPET, VMCPP, and holographic foil film.
Step 1: Remove the while base on the area need be metallized. After printing, this area is only CMYK color with good transmission.
Step 2: Laminate with foil film. Relying on the reflective effect of the metal film, the area without white base could also have the metalization reflect.
This is the most economic choice since there is no cost added. We only need make the white base file.
Golden Hot Foil Stamping
This is another way to achieve golden /silver reflect on the packaging. In the past, it is only suitable for rotograve printing, as the digital ink could not bear high temperature which bring from the stamping. While now, we could make it on digital printing pouches, after our high technical department’s hard work.
There is no limit on the material to use hot foil stamping, since it is stamp on the surface of the pouch, not printed by the printer. So we can make on all material types as you want. We can make as pattern, legend or lines based on your design. And you can feel by the fingers as it is protruding.
We will use gold foil paper/anodied Aluminium film , there are many colors you could choose. We will make a punch tool to stamp the gold foil paper to the surface of the packaging roll film. After this, the pattern is finished and metalized. The punch tool can be resued for repeat orders.
This is a good way to make your products look as high-end and elegant.
